On our Costa Brava South Tour you will be hiking the famous coastal trail called "Cami de Ronda". The rugged coastline hides unspoilt coves and beaches, ancient Iberian settlements and little fishing villages. The historical path of the Cami de Ronda was first built as an acces to fishermen in trouble, but also to control the Turkish pirates and later as a smugglers´route during the Spanish Civil War. The green pine and holm oak forests that cover the cliffs are in stark contrast with the green and blue colors of the Mediterranean. The calm and natural beauty of the Costa Brava in spring and autumn is perfect for walkers who do not mind the occassional dip in the sea.

Day 1 SANT PERE PESCADORArrival at Sant Pere Pescador, a fisher’s village where your journey starts the next day . If you arrive in the morning or early afternoon, we highly recommend a stroll along the sandy beaches of Sant Pere or a visit to the Nature Reserve of the Aiguamolls Marshlands. The observation tower is an excellent location to spot seabirds and deer, and the views over the region are stunning. We will hold a welcome meeting with our local guide, who will give you all the information, maps and GPS you need for your walking tour. -
Day 2 SANT PERE PESCADOR - L'ESCALA15.0 kmYou start the day with a pleasant walk along the beach, until the GR92-path leads you away from the coast into the countryside. Through the fields and marshlands of the Aiguamolls Nature Reserve you arrive at the Greco-Roman Ruins of Empuries, the most important city of the Iberian Peninsula in Roman times. Before you arrive at the fishing village of L'Escala, you have a smelly but interesting visit to the anchovies factory. Accommodation in L'Escala. -
Day 3 L'ESCALA - TORROELLA DE MONTGRÍ21.0 kmYou leave L'Escala via the GR92-path that crosses the small mountain range of Massís del Montgrí. The path starts beside the sea, passing some small coves until Punta Ventosa. At this point the path passes just beside the cliffs, with some of the most impressive views of the Costa Brava. You continue further inland and up towards the castle of Montgri. The views over the Emporda plains, the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean are truly astonishing. You descend to the medieval village of Torroella de Montgri, where you will spend the night. -
Day 4 Torroella de Montgrí – Begur18.0 kmThe route of today crosses the Natural Park of Montgrí and Medes Islands. You will walk along the river Ter until the beach. Then, you will continue following the long beach of Pals, before arriving to the climb up to the beautiful village of Begur. Accommodation in Begur. -
Day 5 Begur – Calella de Palafrugell14.0 kmYou leave Begur via a descent towards the rugges coast of the Costa Brava. The path penetrates into the Mediterranean forest, crosses small and virgin coves, goes through paths with breath-taking views of the Mediterranean Sea and passes very charming villages like Tamariu, Llafranc or Calella de Palafrugell, a typical fisher’s village. Accommodation in Calella de Palafrugell. -
Day 6 Calella de Palafrugell – Palamós12.0 kmToday you will be walking along one of the most spectacular parts of the route. You will pass small coves, a virgin beach of incomparable beauty and Mediterranean forests of pines, oaks and olive trees. End of the journey today is Palamós, with a big fishing port, a fish market for professionals open every weekday and a very interesting Fishing Museum (optional). Accommodation in Palamós. -
Day 7 Palamós – Sant Feliu de Guíxols14.0 kmThe last walking day will take you from Palamós to Sant Pol beach in Sant Feliu. You continue along the coastal path of the “Camí de Ronda”. This stretch is also part of the GR92 that you have been following. You will pass several sand and stone beaches, cross small tunnels excavated in the rocks and visit some of the more touristic towns of the Costa Brava. Accommodation in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, the perfect spot for a swim! -
Day 8 Sant Feliu de GuíxolsEnd of the route. Possibility of hiring a transfer back or staying more days to enjoy the Costa Brava, visit Gerona or Barcelona.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ROUTE
Difficulty:
The route follows the beaches and rugged coastline of the Costa Brava along paths without technical difficulties. The climbs between the coves can be challenging but are never very long and the views alleviate any pain. You must take days of 4 to 6 hours of walking into account. A good condition is required but this route is suitable for anyone who likes to walk.

TRAVEL INFORMATION
With its airport and train station, Barcelona is the easiest way to travel to Catalonia. Gerona airport is a good alternative.
If you arrive in Barcelona airport, you can take the direct bus to Gerona: (www.sagalés.com). You can also take the R11 or AVE train from Barcelona to Figueres.
From March to early November, except July and August. In July and August we can adjust the route with extra costs. Ask us about prices and availability.
