Today, first Saturday of July, the 51 Cantada d'Havaneres (colonial shanties) takes place in Calella de Palafrugell. This singing dates back to 1966, when the first meeting of singers was held in a bar, during the presentation of the book "Calella de Palafrugell and Havaneres". Since then, the singing has changed its format and location, but without losing its essence. Now, the stage is set up at Port Bo cove. From the beginning, the festival ends up singing “La bella Lola” (beautiful Lola) and “El meu avi” (My grandfather), two classics that always get the crowd going. Popular participation, which is symbolized following the rhythm of the song with the handkerchief in hand, is one of the attractions of the festival, as well as the boats at sea. For those who do not have the entrance to the Port Bo, you can follow live streaming on a giant screen from Platja del Canaldell and Platja del Port Pelegrí in Calella, Plaça Nova de Palafrugell and Llafranc Beach. Good singing!
